“What the hell…?” is basically all the young woman could say. Ashley Watson, the young woman sitting at just 24 years of age, sat alone in her private office, staring dumbfounded at the rent check that laid before her. Every last thing about this situation was… completely normal save one small detail, but it was the fact that it was all so normal is also what made it so bizarre, and the one obvious incorrect detail was the icing on the cake. Ashley never liked mathematics, or statistics, or keeping extensive records, or wearing expensive and fine suits, or telling others to do as she asks or else, or having to meticulously read each and every document and have to comb them for legal loopholes, clauses stating that her soul was no longer her own, and spelling mistakes. So here she was now: running real estate for a living. She never intended for that to happen. But unfortunately, her foster father had started out as an airplane engineer at that big commercial jumbo jet company when

This is so stupid! I still can’t believe that I had gotten myself lost like this! Here I am now, walking the floor of some forest like a goshdarn Teddiursa! Of course fate just wanted to see me suffer, grounded not by injury or anything else, but being the middle of autumn with its cooler temperatures and constantly high atmospheric pressure. I was already stranded in the middle of wheretheheckinstin, couldn’t a girl at least be allowed the luxury of being allowed to get even just a bit of horizontal movement? Course not. Because that would require someone, or something, to take pity on me for once. I adjusted my neckerchief in frustration, and caught myself reaching for my badge again. Even knowing it wouldn’t work just like the other fifty times I tried it, I still removed it from the fabric with one pincer and tried to get it to work its power. It did nothing. I wanted to beam it against the nearest tree. It took a lot of effort to put it back in its rightful spot, clipped securely

Another Day on the Job
I woke up. Well, I say ‘woke up’, but to be far more accurate I had already been half awake for… awhile? I don’t actually know for how long. It was the sort of being awake where you're not actually able to really think of much else than immediately turning over and going back to sleep, or at least something approximating sleep, for another five minutes. Not unless someone actively drags you out of bed or there is something that demands your immediate attention. Some people are wise enough to put their alarms on the other side of their bedrooms, requiring them to actually get up and get their blood flowing to shut it off. I am not that smart; though I suppose it would be more accurate to say I don’t even have such a luxury as an alarm clock. I used too… but not anymore. Eventually, though, I begrudgingly sat up from my pillows and let my eyes take in the world around me. The window outside displayed a modest grassy field before abruptly hitting the forest treeline beyond. The weather

Chapter 6- A New Friend Hikari and Yami set out on their journey to reach Aquacrest City. Between them and the city were many regions to travel through. The first of which was an area known as the Rolling Fields. Rolling Fields was a vast valley full of dry plants and wide-open space. It also happened to be the location of a mystery dungeon that led into the mountains that they would have to cross next. Knowing full well that the journey was going to be long, Hikari and Yami pressed on into the mystery dungeon that stood before them. "This place sure is dry," Hikari remarked, "It's nothing like the atmosphere of Garden Village!" "Yeah, you're right," Yami replied, "At least there's lots of green in Garden Village!" As Yami looked around, something caught her eyes. There was a huge leaf coming up from behind a strange looking rock. "Oh look! There's some green over there!" Yami pointed out. As she inched towards the strange plant, the rock suddenly came to life. It was a Geodude. The

Chapter 5- Leaving Home Hikari and Yami wandered around Garden Village for a bit, peering at the many different shops the town had to offer. They knew that if they were going to leave for Aquacrest City, they would have to be prepared for the long journey ahead of them. And what better way to prepare than to visit the shops to gather supplies. "I suppose we should start by getting some berries!" Yami suggested, "Berries will help us a lot if we start to struggle!" Yami seemed to know much about preparing. A bit too much for someone who never seems to prepare herself back at the daycare. But this didn't concern Hikari. She idolized Yami for being so brave and eager and determined. There was no doubt that Hikari was still feeling a bit nervous about the journey ahead. Yet at the same time it excited her a bit to be able to go out on her own and explore. Of course, Hikari had to remember that she wasn't alone. She had Yami with her and that made her feel comfortable. "I think we can

Chapter 4- Encouragement Tamago stood in shock at the news she had just heard. "Gone?!" she exclaimed, "Hana is missing?!" She and Kiku looked at each other very worryingly. Never had such a terrible event happened. Hana was a seasoned explorer and to hear that she had gone missing and was nowhere to be found was beyond worrisome. Hikari watched as the two mentors chattered on in a panicked tone. She started to feel horrible about what happened. Even though it wasn't her fault, Hikari couldn't help but feel just as distressed as Tamago and Kiku were feeling. Even the other young Pokémon in the daycare were talking about what happened. Some were expressing their concern for what happened to Hana while others were debating on what to do about the situation. "Perhaps we have no choice but to report this to the local officers," Kiku suggested, "I hear that Sheriff Arcanine has been handling many cases like this." Hikari knew that she wasn't wrong. She had heard rumors of many Pokémon

Chapter 3- Tangy Wood Hikari and Yami stood in front of the entrance to the Tangy Wood. It was a place that was chock full of berries and other fruits, a hotspot for beginners in rescue teams, and a rather pleasant place to explore. But regardless, it was still a mystery dungeon. Mystery dungeons were mysterious places for explorers to travel through. They were known for being full of danger such as dangerous Pokémon, natural hazards, and even the possibility of weather related issues for some Pokémon. The Tangy Wood was no different. Though it was a minor dungeon, even the most minor dungeons can become challenging without preparation. "Well..... This is the place," Hikari worryingly stated. Yami looked at her with determined eyes. "Oh come on Hikari!" she energetically exclaimed. "It doesn't look that bad! Besides, I hear that this place is full of grass type Pokémon! I'm a fire type you see! I can handle grass type Pokémon easily!" Hikari still wasn't sure. Yami may have been a

Chapter 2- Hikari and Yami Hikari sat in the library reading many books on rescue teams. She had yearned to be in a rescue team ever since she first learned about them. The thought of adventure, treasure, and mystery always excited her. Especially since she learned about her origin. In fact, Hikari's main reason for wanting to be in a rescue team was her origin. She wanted to know who she was and why she came from a mysterious storm. She wanted to see what secrets lied within her own past and how they linked to the storm. Hikari figured that if she joined a rescue team, she would eventually find the answers she was looking for and more. Suddenly Hikari was interrupted from her reading by a familiar voice. "H-Hello there," the voice said. Hikari turned around to see Yami the Houndour sitting still. There was something odd about her though. She was unusually shaky and nervous. It was almost like she was worried about something which wasn't her usual personality. Hikari always knew

Chapter 1- Life in the Daycare It had been almost three years since that mythical stormy night. Many of the Pokémon of Garden Village had been talking about it even after it had long since passed. That night became know as the Night of Falling Stars. The name came from the fact that the falling objects in the sky looked like shooting stars. Not much was known about the event outside of that knowledge however. Despite the lack of knowledge, the event had become the main attraction of many rescue teams who sought to solve the great mystery. As much of an uproar it was, life went on as if nothing had happened. Tamago sat outside with her peers, Hana the Bellossom and Kiku the Audino, watching the young Pokémon of the daycare play. It was a wonderful and happy scene for the three of them. Watching the youngsters play and frolic was always such a joy. Of course they also had the job of making sure the young ones didn't rough play or bully anyone else. But in the end, they knew that it

Prologue- A Mystic Storm It was a very stormy night. The storm had raged on for many hours. Loads of thunder could be heard and lighting could be seen. But it didn't seem to phase a young Blissey who sat in her rocking chair in the comfort of her home. Tamago the Blissey was the owner of a lovely daycare for young Pokémon. The daycare was known as Happy Eggs Daycare, a place dedicated to taking in orphaned Pokémon. Tamago's job was to raise the young Pokémon and prepare them for the world. By now all the youngsters had been put in bed and Tamago found herself relaxing in her bedroom. The sound of classical music filled the room as she looked through the newspapers and read the latest stories. Everything seemed normal and peaceful. But that was until something strange happened that very night. As Tamago looked through the newspapers, she suddenly caught the glimpse of a ray of blue light. "Hm? What was that?" Tamago said to herself. Letting curiosity get the better of her, she got up
